Welcome to FreshSalt

FreshSalt is the name for the group of churches and parishes in the Mersea Island area, between Abberton Reservoir and the sea.

Led by Reverend Sam Norton, our friendly congregations offer a warm welcome to all comers, whether seasoned hands or those of you are new to the church.

Old and new residents in the area, as well as visitors, are encouraged to come and join us for friendship, and to explore the spiritual dimensions of everyday life.

The FreshSalt group of parishes is part of the Church of England. The formal description of what we believe can be found here.

That might all seem a bit dry, so here's a song that we think captures something important that follows from what we believe:

"All my friends are part saint and part sinner,
We lean on each other, try to rise above.
We are not afraid to admit we are all still beginners,
We're all late bloomers when it comes to love...
All my favorite people are broken -
Believe me, my heart should know.
Orphaned believers, skeptical dreamers, you're welcome!
Yeah, you're safe right here, you don't have to go."
