Welcome to FreshSalt
FreshSalt is the name for the group of churches and parishes in the Mersea Island area, between Abberton Reservoir and the sea.
Our benefice, and all parishes within, are currently in a period of vacancy, the previous Rector, Sam Norton, having moved on to his new parishes, Park End and Viney Hill, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.
In the interim our new Curate, the Reverend Terry Walker, together with our retired clergy and our friendly congregations, continue to offer a warm welcome to all comers, whether seasoned hands, or those of you new to the church.
Old and new residents in the area, as well as visitors, are encouraged to come and join us for friendship, and to explore the spiritual dimensions of everyday life.
The FreshSalt group of parishes is part of the Church of England. The formal description of what we believe can be found here.
That might all seem a bit dry, so here's a song that our previous Rector Sam thought captures something important that follows from what we believe:
"All my friends are part saint and part sinner,
We lean on each other, try to rise above.
We are not afraid to admit we are all still beginners,
We're all late bloomers when it comes to love...
All my favorite people are broken -
Believe me, my heart should know.
Orphaned believers, skeptical dreamers, you're welcome!
Yeah, you're safe right here, you don't have to go."
If you would like to find out which service might suit you, arrange a celebration, organise a special occasion, hire one of our church halls, or simply talk, please...
